Extra Waste Pick-Up Policy
On Monday, July 6, 2020 the Portageville Board of Alderman passed a new ordinance that established a new policy for picking up extra waste within the City of Portageville. For items other than residential trash pick-up, a sticker will now have to be purchased at City Hall. A price list has been established for items that are frequently requested for pick-up.
For example, a queen size mattress pick-up is available for $15.00. A queen size set pick-up (mattress and box springs) is available for $20.00. A tag must be purchased at City Hall and attached to the item being requested for pick-up. A work order is then generated for our Street or Solid Waste Department to pick-up your item. Only items with tags will be picked up.
There is a 30-yard dumpster, located at the City of Portageville Street Shed at the end of Main Street, that citizens may utilize between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. If you would like to haul your extra trash items to the dumpster and dispose of them yourself, there is no fee attached.
This ordinance does not apply to limbs and yard waste. During Spring and Fall Clean Up weeks, there will be no charge for extra waste pick-up for residential citizens.
